Mark Wertheimer, BDS, MSc, MDent, FCD(SA)
Mark Wertheimer completed undergraduate dental degree in 1986 and followed this with an MSc in Dentistry in 1994, before graduating as an orthodontist in 1995, all at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was then admitted as a Fellow in the College of Medicine of South Africa in the Branch of Orthodontics in 1996. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Past President of the Paedodontic Society of South Africa and the South African Society of Orthodontists. Mark served on the Board of Directors of the Dental Association of South Africa and is currently a member of the International Ambassadors Forum of the AAO and a member of the WFO council. In 2016 he was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the South African Society of Orthodontists. He was involved in post-graduate teaching for 17 years in the Orthodontic Department at the University of the Witwatersrand and now serves as an examiner for the Fellowship Examinations at the College of Dentistry, where he is also the Secretary. Additionally, Mark has served as a reviewer for various journals and was awarded the Best Reviewer of the Year Award by the APOS Trends in Orthodontics Journal in 2017. He has delivered numerous international presentations and has specific interests in Interdisciplinary treatment and Lingual Orthodontics. This is his first time visiting and lecturing in Poland.
